Youth Programs

Enhancing the shul experience for our youth is the highest priority at Young Israel of Potomac.  We provide a full range of Shabbat Youth Programming from ages 2 year old through 6th grade beginning at 8:45 am each Shabbat morning.

Groups are run by our dedicated teenagers under the supervision of adults. Programming is based on the excellent Parsha Nation materials, and incentive prizes are regularly provided to all group participants.

On a typical Shabbat, groups start with supervised play from 8:45 am - 10:00 am.  We have a wide selection of educational board games and other fun activities.  At 10:00 am our teens lead the children in  davening.  From 10:30 AM - 11:00 am, the leaders run activities based on the parsha, themes and a special Jewish personality of the week.  At 11:00 am, Rabbi Singer visits with the groups and tells a Dvar Torah to the children, followed by a mini Kiddush.  Snacks are provided at regular intervals during the groups.  When the weather is nice, the children have the option for some outdoor supervised play at the Ivymount playground located immediately behind the shul.  Don't forget to pick up your children immediately after davening!
